Why You Feel Stuck (It’s Not What You Think)

Have you ever felt… stuck? Like your brain is just on a scary loop, playing the same worries over and over?

You try to fight it. You try to think your way out of it.

But it’s like trying to put out a fire with a water pistol. It just doesn’t work. 😮💨

Here’s a secret: Your body is not broken.

It’s actually trying to protect you. Think of it like a super-sensitive superhero.

Your body’s job is to look for danger. Sometimes, it gets its wires crossed. It sees danger where there is none!

  • A loud noise? DANGER!
  • A stressful email? DANGER!
  • A weird look from someone? MAJOR DANGER!

Your body then pushes the big red PANIC button. Your heart races. You feel scared. This is your body getting ready to run from a tiger… even if the only thing around is your confused cat. 🐅😼

So, why are you stuck?

You’re stuck because you’re doing two things that don’t work:

  1. You’re fighting your feelings. You’re yelling at your body to “CALM DOWN!” when it thinks it’s saving your life. That’s like yelling at a smoke alarm while your toast is burning. The alarm is just doing its job!
  2. You’re talking about the past. Talking about old problems can sometimes just make you feel the scary feelings all over again, right now.

So what’s the answer? How do you get unstuck?

You have to talk to your body in a language it understands. You can’t use words. You have to use safety.

You have to show your body, right here, right now, that there is no tiger.

You do this by giving it little signals of safety. Again. And again. And again.

Until your brain finally gets the message: “Oh… okay. We’re safe. We can relax now.”

It’s like teaching a puppy a new trick. You have to be patient and show it lots of times.

How do you do that? It’s easier than you think.

You do small, simple things to feel safe in your body.

  • Feel your feet. Seriously! Wiggle your toes. Feel your socks. Feel your feet flat on the floor. The floor is holding you up. It’s solid.
  • Feel your breath. Don’t try to change it! Just notice it going in and out.
  • Look around. Name 5 things you can see that are blue. Or round. Or fuzzy.
  • Put a hand on your heart. Feel the warmth of your own hand.

This isn’t magic. This is just you giving your body new information. You’re saying, “Hey! Look! No tigers here. Just a floor. Just my breath. We are okay.”

Do these little things anytime you feel that icky, scared feeling.

It might feel silly at first. But keep doing it. You are teaching your body a new, safer game to play.

You weren’t built to be stuck. You were built to triumph. You just have to show your body the way.
